The Independence celebration activity picked up today with a lot of people dancing in the streets. Many of them are wearing native looking things and have spears. They all seem to be having a good time.
We had a staff meeting with the general manager this morning and he put a lot of emphasis on getting as many new connects as possible. We have made 3 since I got here, which is all that have come thru as far as I can see. I'm supposed to meet the manager down at the celebration tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it. Today I spent my time either woking with the crew hooking up two new services, or with the guy who signs people up for new service, helping him figure out how to get power to the consumers. Apparently the line losses are a little too high and one of the things they hope will bring them down is not backfeeding in to the extra set of substation pots, so I was helping train the generator guys on how open a cutout and take the door down. This means I will have to be there when they turn the generator on and off for a while. In the first picture, a lady is smoking a pipe--you see a lot of women smoking them and very few men. The next one is just me with the same woman. The next is people celeabrating independence.
