Holiday

This was an official holiday here in South Sudan and I was worried that it might be slow like a Sunday, but went pretty well. The general manger and several other people flew out today and, since I'm the only one left who is OK to drive the rigs, I got elected to drive them to the airstrip. The plane  was  1 1/2 hrs  late getting in, and everyone was quite worried that it might not come, since the next one will not come until Thursday. Aside from that, what I spent most of my day doing was hauling people around and getting something called a tuk-tuk running. It is a kind of motorcycle with a bed on the back. I did not get a picture of one, but I will for tomorrow. The first picture is of the runway where the planes land here in Kapoeta. In the 2nd picture, the shell-looking thing on the woman's back is to shade the baby she is carrying from the sun. People are still celebrating on the square here in the evening and I stopped to take a few shots of the dancing. The 3rd picture is of some dancers and in the last I could not resiste the little girl carrying the baby.
